Anindita Nanda is a rare combination of dancer, classical vocalist, choreographer, teacher and scholar. She has a Masters in Indian Classical Dance and in Indian Classical Vocal She has been teaching Odissi Classical Dance and Indian Vocal music for over two decades and is the founder and director of, “SOORTAAL”, a platform to teach Dance and Music. She is an accomplished artist of the Odissi classical style of dancing hailing from eastern part of India and she is trained in the Guru Shri Kelucharan Mohapatra style of dancing, Anindita is the recipient of several awards and titles like the “Nritya Shree”,”Nritya Visharad” and “Nritya Praveen” which are high honors for Master artists in India and has been honored by the Odisha Socitey of America and Jagannth Society of America, for her relentless contribution to Odissi. While in India she was the recipient of the National Scholarship Award for Advancement of Indian Dance and Music from Ministry of Cultural Affairs. She was conferred the Human Greatness Award by the Mayor of Danbury for her work with the community and artform. She was nominated for the New England Women of the Year Award. She is the founder and coordinator of the International Natyatarang Arts Festival, NTFA, USA, which is one of its kind classical arts festival in the tri state area and hosts national and international artists. Apart from being an artist through and through, Anindita is a Scientist by profession.
